I am running Vista, IIS 7, SQL Server 2008 and DNN 5.5.  I have my main portal set up using an IP address.  This works great.

Under the aliases for this portal I added a www.sitename.com that I am using (also added http://www.sitename.com/ just in case).  I can access the web site using the www.sitename.com, but if I try to login using any one of the users I have set up, it appears to work (no error message), but the web page displayed after an apparently successful login, is the default web page for the site, and I but I am not logged into the site.

I can login to the site no problem if I use the IP address.  I am using IE.

Any ideas why ?

Thanks
Dave

OK - New test

My main portal is set to my IP address (e.g. 199.160.1.120).
I can login into this and everything is fine.

I set up a new DNN portal using www.mysite.com.
I have www.mysite.com  registered at hover.com and I set up a redirection from www.mysite.com to my IP (199.160.1.120).

If I type in www.mysite.com in IE, I get redirected to 199.160.1.120.  I try to login to DNN using a user I set up in portal www.mysite.com, but it does not find it.

So how do I access the accounts in the www.mysite.com portal??

So I can't get the redirection to work if I enable the 'Stealth Redirection". This is the feature where the www.mysite.com redirects to my IP address (e.g. 199.160.1.120). The stealth redirection displays the www.mysite.com in the IE address bar. This seems to screw up DNN, and when this feature is enabled, I can't login to my DNN web site. If I disable the stealth redirection, then if i enter www.mysite.com in the address bar, i get redirected to http://199.160.1.120 (which is my DNN portal), but in this case http://199.160.1.120 is displayed in IE address bar, so the login works.
