Hi Everyone

Previously, I posted earlier today on a failed 05.06.00 Installation.  http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...

Now here are my errors from a fresh 05.01.00 Installation on SQL Server 2005, ASP .NET 4, and Windows Server 2008 R2.

This error shows from the screen "Run Database Installation Scripts".

Again, I am not waiting for a resolution, but instead am documenting these errors on this forum since other people may have similar issues with installation into a blank directory with blank database.  My next new installation trial will be on the 05.04 series.

A few thoughts I'd like to share . . .

1. DotNetNuke prior to 5.04.00 had compatibility issues with ASP.Net 4.0 and at a minimum required manual modifications to web.config.
2. Although I did run one site on 5.01.01 for about a year I cannot recommend any version less than 5.02.03 for a new install For a while I kept my sites on 5.02.03 and then 5.04.04 as I felt those versions to be the most stable. This past week, I successfully upgraded 9 sites (all remotely hosted) to version 5.05.01. Upgrades were from versions as low as 4.09.02 but mostly from 5.02.03 or 5.04.04 without any issues. Although 5.06.00 is highly recommended as it addresses a security issue (low risk) and has some performance imporovements, I have seen too many issues reported in the forums since its release to try it on a live site.
3. Both the failure to install the Telerik assembly mentioned in your other post during an upgrade to 5.06.00 and the error mentioned in this post appear to have occurred while changes were being made to web.config. Have you checked that the proper account for the ASP.Net worker process (ASP.Net Identity) has been granted full filesystem permissions on the root folder of the install (and also all child folders)? As you are running Windows Server 2008 RC (IIS 7.5), this may be either Network Service or IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool or a custom identity account.

Hi William

Thanks for the reply

I noticed that I made an error it was 05.05.01 instead of what I said -- I have no way to edit my original post, or delete it or edit the header either.  I also cannot edit the subject in this reply.
