When a user posts a new thread, how can I set the initial (default) value of "Notification" to be checked?

Most of my users will not see that the "Notify Me" option is unchecked by default, and will not be notified when we reply, causing confusion and frustration.

There isn't really an option to make this happen. Each user can control this on their own from "My Settings". See the "Notify on Reply" checkbox here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...

I understand that each user can control the default setting of "Notification", but this is kind of a "Catch-22" situation": you have to know about the option before you can set it.  Most of my users will not notice this option, and won't set it.

Is there a VB file or something that can be modified to set the "Notification" option to "checked"? I can sub-contract the work to a DNN developer.

it would be nice to have a preference setting, I agree. For now, you may either modify source code of the module or use a automated sql statement to update the setting for each user. you should focus on Forums notification, not thread notification, otherwise the number of records may affect module performance.

I suggested this same feature.
