Adding basic rights for IUSR resolved the UI problems!

Now to tackle the name/DNS issue - then I'm good to go!

for development on Windows XO Pro, I suggest using free IISAdmin tool (www.jetstat.com/iisadmin), which allows running multiple web sites on your machine (alternatively). if the final site shall run from the root of the web site (www.yourdomain.com instead of www.yourdomain.com/dnn). you need to adjust all image/document paths, there is a free tool from engagemodules.com, which may help.
