I recently installed DNN on my godaddy hosting account and moved all the files from the DNN folder they made to the site root. My website is looking good and displaying as expected. However, when I try to add a new folder to the Portal root I get an error like the following:

Access to the path \'Images\' is denied.

I can FTP a folder up to the Portal Root but all the folder contents (in this case, images) won't display unless I'm logged in as the Host.

Additionally, when I attempt to update content in a Text/HTML module I get the following error even though the changes stick:

Error: is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Deleted 0 files, however, some files are locked. Could not delete the following files: d:\hosting\shelltron\Portals\0\\Cache\Modules\68_ACABA51644A302FBB325E30E7931BAF8.attrib.resources;d:\hosting\shelltron\Portals\0\\Cache\Modules\68_ACABA51644A302FBB325E30E7931BAF8.data.resources; ---> System.IO.IOException: Deleted 0 files, however, some files are locked. I am not experienced enough to really make this meaningful. What did I do wrong and what would cause these issues?

Sorry to say, but GoDaddy is not what I would call a "recommended" DNN host. Google it.

Are you adding the new folder to the installation root or to the portal home directory - that is to Portals/0/ ? If you are adding the new folder to the installation root, the error is quite understandable in that GoDaddy will not grant the necessary full file system permissions to the ASP.Net worker process account on the installation root folder. That is why GoDaddy always installs DotNetNuke to a child folder such as /dnn or /dotnetnuke.

Regarding the second error regarding deletion of files from the cache, that is likely due to a lack of full filesystem permissions for the ASP.Net worker process account on the /Portals folder or it's child folders. When logged into your DotNetNuke site as host user, navigate to Host --> Host Settings and make a note of what user is shown as the ASP.Net Identity. That is the account which needs full filesystem permissions on all folders. While you cannot set that in your GoDaddy hosting control panel, you should be able to on child folders.

Although it is possible to get a DotNetNuke site working in the GoDaddy site root rather than a child folder by moving all the files as you have done, there will be problems with insufficient file permissions when upgrading DotNetNuke in the future and when installing any extensions which need to write to or modify files (such as web.config) in the site root folder -- hence one of several reasons that I cannot recommend GoDaddy for DNN hosting either.

the error is quite common. You just give the "network service" full permissions to your site working folder and the error should be gone. good luck

Can This One Help!Thank You!
