I've seen variations of this question/problem posted all over but have yet to see a very definitive clear cut answer to it. 

What I want to do is have a specific user directed to a specific page after they successfully login.  NOT sent back to the page that they were viewing prior to logging in. Like a default user homepage as it were.

Any ideas how this can be accomplished?  I CANNOT believe it's really this complicated.

I had a similar need, but also needed to redirect users differently based on their role.  I copied the DNN Signin module into my own DesktopModule and added the necessary redirection code.
