On the left top there are different modes eg, layout, edit - you must be in the edit mode to edit pages.

I think you are on the layout mode.

That is a common mistake, but not one I am making.

Theres another issue at play, just not sure what it is.

Have you checked the Admin --> Event Viewer for any related errors?

Do the desired module's appear in the control panel's drop-down list?

What happens when you select a module in the drop- down list then click "Add"? Page postback? Error? Nothing happens?
