hello,

             I want web.config connection string for hosting server. Sql server 2008R2 Database in server. I create empty database names as demoasp, uid="demoasp"
pwd="demo12#$; Server=113.197.37.11

<connectionStrings>

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=113.197.37.11;uid=demoasp;uid=demoasp;pwd=demo12#$;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>

<appSettings>

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=113.197.37.11; User Id=demoasp; Password=demo12#$; Initial Catalog=DotNetNuke; providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/

I am getting runtime error

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/> </system.web> </configuration>

Hi,

Try:

<connectionStrings>

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=113.197.37.11;Database=demoasp;uid=demoasp;pwd=demo12#$;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<connectionStrings>

<appSettings>
<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=113.197.37.11;Database=demoasp;uid=demoasp;pwd=demo12#$;" />

If it still fails, turn temporarily turn "customErrors mode="Off""  as the error message suggests so you can see which the actual error is.

Thanks

to turn off custom errors, edit your web.config file using a text editor and search for "CustomErrors". replace the mode value behind with "Off". Save and retry.
