Hi,

I'm working on a ScheduledTask class and would like to call LinkClick. However I see that it fails on UrlUtils.EncryptParameter. Here is the event log:

AssemblyVersion

PortalName:
UserID: -1
UserName:
ActiveTabID: -1
ActiveTabName:

InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
FileName:
FileLineNumber: 0
FileColumnNumber: 0
Method: DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.UrlUtils.EncryptParameter
StackTrace:
Message: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.UrlUtils.EncryptParameter(String Value) at Slamin.Modules.SubScr.ScheduledTask.DoWork()

What my scheduled task is supposed to do is to send a link to a document (in this case, a report in PDF format) out to some peoples emails address at certain time every day. However I would not like to use the direct link to the file, but would like to benifit from DNNs authentication system. I hope someone out there may have a hint for me. I appreciate your reply.

most likely, your are struggling with the fact, that a scheduled job has no portal context.

:-(

I see that LinkClick has a parameter: PortalID
Does it mean that I would not be able to connect to the portal even with this Portal ID sat?

where do you get the portalId from in your scheduler job, if you don't have a context?

Maybe this sounds stupid, but I only have one portal and I guessed that I could use 0 as portal ID, as this is what I read in this page: Host > Portals

OK, after having written I fugured out that I am actually hardcoding the portal ID, but in my case this is OK, as this is not a general schedule, but just one for this particular site.
