Hi

I have just created a new portal in my DNN installation version 5. For some reason which I can not work out, the default Home page and any new pages I try to create, have the All Users security permission set to a padlock (granted permission) for View and Edit by default. I can not unslect or change it in any way.

Previous portals I have created didn't have this issue.

I also don't have group filtering available. Compared settings to all other portals I have and the settings are the same but the other portals do not have this issue. I am checking the settings as the portal administrator.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Rob

Rob, which version are you using? you need to go to portals table in your database and make sure, administratorsroleid and registeredusersroleid are set to proper values from Roles table

Hi Sebastian

Thanks for your reply, I followed this link's instructions. Note I am using SQL Express so the query didn't work straight up. But looking at the query I went through the data and could see the admin and reg id roles had defaulted to -1 and I set them to the correct role id's (for the new portal roles).

The link you supplied and blog accurately describes the problem. The diagram is exactly the issue I am having.

Unfortunately this didn't fix the issue. I therefore deleted the portal and recreated a new one and still have the same issue. I notice that under the TabPermission table the page permission has an entry for PermissionID for the TabId as RoleID of -1, which I am assuming is All Users. Changing this doesn't seem to fix the issue either, is there a bug somewhere in the permissions?

Any other ideas? I am running version 5.4..4. Would 5.6 maybe fix this issue? All the other portals I had created where with older versions of DNN and I didn't have this issue. Is this something that has come in within the last set of releases?

Thanks
Rob

Robin, please be aware that you have to restart the application (e.g. by saving web.config) for database changes to become effective due to being cached.
