I'm hosting my DNN installation at 3Essentials and I notice that they do not support a separate email address for each portal.  Thus, suppose someone has a domain at abc.com with some hosting provider, and they have email service under that domain through the hosting provider, so that bill@abc.com gets to them.  Now they decide that they'd like me to host their site on my DNN installation.  With 3Essentials as the hosting provider,  I can't give them email support at abc.com.

So what are the options here?  Can they get abc.com mail support somewhere else.  Could I possibly offer the email support from my single DNN installation if I used a different hosting provider?

Thanks for any thoughts.
Steve

I would take a look at Google Apps for email, I use it on my websites, works great! Could you get multiple email support with one hosting setup with another provider, possibly, but if that is your only complaint with 3Essentials I wouldn't go through the hoops of switching.

Thanks Chris. So after looking a bit into Google Apps it looks like it's possible to set up a separate  Google Apps email account for each of my DNN installation portals and then change the MX record for each alias, i.e., each portal URL, so that email accesses to that domain are redirected to the Google Apps server. So web accesses to the portal domains still go the 3Essentials server, where DNN services them,   but when SMTP mail accesses to my domain get to the 3Essential server they  they  get bounced back out to the Google server. Is that what's happening?

Thanks again,
Steve

By the way, what does Google charge you for this service?

Google has a free service, and a paid service that I think runs at $50/year. I just use the free service. The Email sent from DNN still can only go through one SMTP though, as that is a HOST setting, not a site setting.
