Hi,

I've been writing modules in VB for years and never had the following issue. I'm using 5.6.0 Community Install version.

I created an empty CSharp web application project with VS 2010 in desktopmodules folder as usual.

Under Web properties for the project I set the following:

Set Start URL to be: http://localhost/dotnentukedev/

Set Use Local IIS Web Sever to be: http://localhost/dotnetnukedev/desktopmodules/announcements/

Set Override application root URL to : http://localhost/dotnetnukedev/

Without even adding a reference to the DotNetNuke.dll I get the following warning and any donetnuke webcontrols won't show up on the ascx in design mode:

Warning 1 D:\Websites\DotNetNuke\Portal\5.6.0 DEV\DesktopModules\Cazlar\Modules\Announcements\Announcement-View.ascx: ASP.NET runtime error: Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2010.2.929.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4' or one of its dependencies. Strong name signature could not be verified.  The assembly may have been tampered with, or it was delay signed but not fully signed with the correct private key. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131045) D:\Websites\DotNetNuke\Portal\5.6.0 DEV\DesktopModules\Announcements\Announcement-View.ascx 1 1 Cazlar.Modules.AnnouncementManager

Any help would be appreciated.

Colin

Is your ASCX file referencing any DNN ASCX files? Or is it currently empty?

Hi Chris,

Happy new year to you... :-)

Firstly, I managed to sort out the telerik issue by simply replacing what seemed to be a corrupted file during extraction of the package zip. Although not totally convinced.

Now I'm left with the issue around the dotnetnuke webcontrols reporting an error that they can't be found event thought I've set the project web properties.

The contents of the ascx control is very short for testing :

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Announcement-View.ascx.cs" Inherits="Cazlar.Modules.AnnouncementManager.AnnouncementView" %>
<%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" TagName="Label" Src="~/controls/labelcontrol.ascx" %>
<dnn:Label ID="plTestLabel" runat="server" ></dnn:Label>

Perplexed!!!

Unfortunately the web controls don't always appear, I have experienced those problems myself. I tend to ignore design view though and always work in the html view for ASCX files.

Thanks Chris,

It's not a big deal, but it's comforting to hear I'm not alone....  :-)

On a slightly different unimportant topic, is it normal for a couple of libraries like DotNetNuke.Services.Syndication.dll, Telerik.Web.UI to be copied to the bin folder of a WAP project where the referenced dotnetnuke.dll Copy Local property is set to false.

Is this something to do with assemblies not registered in the GAC?

Cheers,

Colin
