Hi,

I'm using Forum 4.4.4 and I found that when I creating a new thread the "Notification" checkbox under Editor in "Add/Edit" view doesn't cause emails sent out. But when I view a thread, the "Email me when the thread has replies" checkbox at the right-bottom corner works well, after I checked it I received emails when new reply entered. Why doesn't "Notification" checkbox work?

And, I think the "Notification" checkbox has the same function with the "Email me when the thread has replies" checkbox, so if one is checked then another one should be displayed as checked also. But it isn't yet. They seem to be individual. So is there any difference between them?

Thanks alot!

Hi,

I tried to reproduce what you are seeing with the Forums module, it appears 4.3.0 has the same issue as you describe.  I then tested this on the latest 5.0.0 and this issue has been corrected.  The notifications and check boxes are one in the same in 5.0.0, not independant.  I was unable to find a 4.4.0 version of this module, so I'm assuming this issue was corrected in either 4.5.0 or 5.0.0.

Sorry, slight correction -- I meant to say it appears in 4.4.3, and I wasn't able to find a 4.4.4 version of this module.

Thanks for your reply Vincent.
I checked our site again and I found that we are using 4.4.3. Our version number is 4.4.4 because we did some change to it before and we gave it a new version. There is no such an official version.

Since we are using DNN 4.9.2 and Forum 5.0.0 requires DNN 5.4.1+ so I think we can't update it to 5.0.0. But 4.5.3 is available. Could you please double confirm that if this issue exists in 4.5.3?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Zhan,

I did some quick testing of 4.5.3 and BOTH checkboxes work in this version.

I have a slight correction to my above post.  The two check boxes ARE NOT the same.  After some more testing of the 4.5.3 package, I determined that the "Notification" under the edit box, will send you an email when that particular post is replied to, but if another post is replied to you will not get a notification.  All replies to the original Notificationed post will also send you emails.  On the other hand the "Email me when the thread has replies" will always send you notifications.

I hope that makes some sense.  The main point is that both the checkboxes work in 4.5.3.
