I'm trying to use a dnn:commandbutton in my module however VS doesn't recognize the tag and the designer doesn't display the control properly.  Am I missing a reference?

I copied the code from DNN's user.ascx source.

<%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" Assembly="DotNetNuke" Namespace="DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls"%>

<dnn:commandbutton runat="server" cssclass="CommandButton" id="DNNButton" type="button" value="DNNButton" /></td>

Have you got a reference to DotNetNuke.WebControls.dll?

Is your WAP project in the DesktopModules folder? If not the path to the controls doesnt resolve correctly. It won't stop you developing it just means the control doesnt resolve so the dev experience is a little lacking.

It is. I have 3 projects, DNNDev, SSMI and Test.  SSMI and Test are modules and in Desktop Modules.  Here's my environment taxonomy:

Project Root

C:\Dev\bsg\Dev

DNN Dev Location

<project root>\DDNDev

VS Solution

<project root>\DNNDev.sln

VS Startup Project (default)

<DNN Dev Location>\DNNDev.csproj

Web Config

<DNN Dev Location>\web.config (debug / release)

Module Root

<DNN Dev Location>\Desktop Modules\<module name>

VS Module  Project (generic)

<module root>\<module name>.csproj

VS Module  Project (Test)

<DNN Dev Location>\Desktop Modules \Test\Test.csproj

VS Module  Project (SSMI)

<DNN Dev Location>\Desktop Modules \SSMI\SSMI.csproj
