Hi all,

I have been playing about with skins on and off and the thing that bugs me is having to zip the skin and then install it or re-parse the file on my test bed site. Is there a program you can load the files in to that will give a feel of how the skin will look and to see any flaws in the skin.
The reason I ask is I don't always have the time to get upstairs to my test bed machine, most of the time I am downstairs making sure my 9 month old son is not killing the place. So I would like a solution I can run on my laptop. Do a bit of the skin load it in to a file and test, then run after my son

Thanks

You can install DotNetNuke locally using the web platform installer (http://www.microsoft.com/web/download...).

One thing I always do is build the design out as HTML first, including navigation and containers, and then convert that to DNN. I find this helps reduce the amount of bugs in the skin, like I'd see in my first few attempts.

Hope this helps,

Rick.

Thanks for the link looks like just the thing. Also with it being small and not a resource hungry app it will work on my laptop. Happy Days

No worries on the link, before I was put onto this I had the same situation where I was uploading and reparsing skin files, so I feel your pain.

Thanks for the comment on my site, atm it's all HTML (Was a quick site I built in a week when I came up with the idea) butthe DNN version is almost ready for launch and will be out by the end of the month.

Happy skinning :)

Rick.
