I too can confirm GZIP was the cause of the very same problem for our corporate Intranet. I know it also created issues with the documents module in earlier DNN releases.

I ended up having no compression at all which works as I cannot spend hours constantly troubleshooting. I expect there will be a performance penalty involved somewhere.

thats a +1 for disabling GZip on an upgraded 5.6.1 from a 5.6.0 site
Expand folder was not working on the admin > file manager. Disable GZip, its NOW WORKING.
Issue was experienced in all browsers.

I have debug the calls from client to server and I have see that the response (after the post, after the mouse hover) in json format is not completed.

The problem is in the GZip compression. I have disable this, and now works.

Try this, and write ;-)

I hope that the team resolve this because is not a little problem.

This did work for me.  I hope they have a fix for this in the upcoming release.

Thanks for the fix.

I too have stumbled on this quirk - my 2 local installed dnn instances were upgraded from 5.6.0 to 5.6.1 and my module settings menus stopped working exactly as described in the beginning post.  Disabling the gzip compression fixed the issue.  Count me as a +1 for this issue..

I am still having this issue in 5.6.2. I have found that the IIS compression will work ok (local machine). Unfortunately my host has disabled it for dynamic content.

My next stop is support.dotnetnuke.com to check there.
