I am running Windows Web Server 2008 RC2 as a virtual machine (using Hyper-V). I haven't been able to find any good tutorials on setting up the specific service roles for DotNetNuke, specifically version 5.6.1.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

 I just wanted to mention that I don't want to install using the Web installer found on microsoft.com/web. I want to create a "server role" and assign IIS the appropriate services.

you need to setup IIS 7.5 (I assume you are running Windows Server 2008 R2, not an RC) and the database. There is a more detailed installation document in Resources area above, most of the information should be still valid.

I was able to get further along the installation of DotNetNuke. However, I am still have trouble connecting to my database that's on a different computer. I will have to check your suggestions. Also, I meant to say R2, not RC, sorry about that.

When putting in the database information, I get the following errors:
