Hi,
I have a client site that is using the core DNN Events module. After the DNN 5.6.1 upgrade, or at least this is when it was noticed, there are errors occuring on the icon bar (located at the top right of calendar) . Every time a user clicks the Week View, List View, Events RSS buttons, or an authorized user selects the Add Event button, a scripting error occurs on the page and the icons are unusable. Authorized users can use the drop down menu to add events. However, even though an authorized user can access the settings, the same script error occurs when the user clicks Update.

In addition, if the buttons are clicked multiple times, the module displays - Error: Event Calendar is currently unavailable.

I have upgraded to the latest version of the Events Module - v5.1.5.

This is the error:
Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.
Details: Error parsing near ' Line: 5
Char: 62099
Code: 0
URI: http://www.thegreenprojectoflongislan...

You can look at the live implementation here - http://www.thegreenprojectoflongislan...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Vinny

Just a guess based on some similarly strange client-side errors after upgrade to 5.06.01 . . . Try this:

1. Log in as host user and navigate to Host --> Host Settings
2. In the Advanced Settings > Performance Settings, set the Compression Settings to "No Compression" if it was previously set to GZip or Deflate
3. Click Update

Let us know if Compression Setting was GZip or Deflate and if the change to No Compression fixed this issue.

Interesting. I did have it set to GZip. I removed the compression and I no longer get the error. I guess this is a work-around but I hate to have the performnce of the site suffer. Thank you for the tip.

Do you know how I can confirm if the Events Project team are aware of the issue - if it's even a module issue and not a DNN 5.6.1 issue. How do I raise this to the core team? - if they don't already know. Thanks.

The Events team monitors this forum, (as in I do), so I'm aware via the forum of the issue. The fact that William pointed to the answer straight after the first time it was posted in this forum suggests that it is an issue that is wider then just the Events module.

I would guess that since it is a 'known' issue that it is already reported on Gemini which is the way issues are raised to the core team. Gemini can be accessed at http://support.dotnetnuke.com .

If someone can point me at the bug report on Gemini I can investigate if there is anything the Events team can do to help.

Cheers
Roger
