At least in my implementations, the need for a page per language is perhaps the exception scenario rather than norm.  I would only really wan't a completely distinct page for a blog, news, forum or similar where the content is perhaps completely different in each implemented language.
In the majority of cases multi-lingual modules do the job just fine.

It seems to me that with so many localization promises over the last few years the core team has in effect extinguished some great multi-language initiatives, which worked pretty well.  Instead they have delivered a "solution" that doesn't work, isn't documented and even if it did work, would not appear to fit most use cases.

I'm glad to see that Marc is going to do some upgrading of Locopon's product.  It's a shame the core team didn't take a more proven and pragmatic approach and do something similar.  We don't need a new wheel, just one that does the job.

Simon, please understand that DotNetNuke Core Development is done by DotNetNuke Corp. exclusively now. The Core Team is a selection of volunteers from the community (including the authors of EALO, Apollo and Locopon modules), who take care of community needs and activities like skinning contest, Wiki, module tests, ...

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

Thanks for the clarification Sebastian - it seems a major shame that dnn corp isn't listening to its selection of community volunteers.

Simon,

I would also recommend staying away from the core localization features and stick with what you are using.  We use Apollo page localization along with some modules from DNNCentric.  (and some in house custom ones).

My 2 cents.

Robert
