Hi,

So if I understand this correctly as an administrator I can create private security roles; for users who have either paid for it or were granted it. And now these users can access other parts of the site that normal users cannot get it. To make assigning users to these roles quicker and less of a headache you can use an RSVP code to assign user membership for you in an automated kind of way.

But my question is, what's stopping users from sharing the code for free to other users. Now you have a whole lot of users accessing this content that they weren't suppose to be seeing. Is there a way to make RSVP codes only good for a single use; or am I missing the big picture here?

Regards,

Dean

the RSVP code is assigned to a security role, not to a user. The only way to restrict it that I know if is to change if frequently. There may be a third party module like ucanuse that allows what you want.

you also may be able to use Open Web Studio to build a registration module - I created a custom registration module for one of my clients, where each person who is registering on the site is assigned a unique ID code, then that code is validated when the register.  The registrant is placed in a security role based on that id code, and the id code is placed in a custom field in the user attributes.

Thanks for the suggestion but after taking a look at thier site "ucanuse.com". I have little to no faith in thier products. The site is completely not finished, barely functional and shady looking. If they won't put forth the effort on their own site can I really trust what they're selling? I mean try to go through thier product catalog a lot of the pages are just...blank.

But I understand what you're saying with the RSVP code. would I be able to write a script to change it on an hourly basis in the SQL database? Do RSVP codes even get stored in the SQL database?

Everything gets stored in the database.  I do not know where, you'd have to look through the tables to figure it out.  And, yes i suppose you could write an app to change it periodically.  Maybe with a trigger, you could change it after each registration.
