I'm starting to have nightmares on this. I've got sites that run the gamut from around v5.4.x through v5.6.x.

I would love to pick the "most stable" version of DNN and get the majority of sites to it, but for the life of me, I can't figure out which one that is.

I *thought* that v5.6.1 was a good spot to rest for a while? But not so sure anymore.

Will a 5.4.4 > 5.6.1 upgrade break user registration? secure commerce? custom profiles?

Ugh.

I finally had a chance to look at this, here's what fixed it over here.

The scenario was the following:

* a v5.6.0 portal (clean install) with a single portal (portal 0) that would throw an error when anyone tried to register by clicking the "register" link
* if a custom profile field was added to the portal, login would break

The problem seemed to be the fact that there was a non-null value in the Tabs.PortalID column for the Host menu pages. The fix was the following - run the following against the portal database:

UPDATE  Tabs SET PortalID= Null WHERE TabPath Like '//Host%' AND PortalID Is Not NULL

I tried your fix on 5.6.2 and it didn't work for me.

1. I still get "The package is already Installed" without a repair optioin when trying upgrade a module from either admin, or host either under extensions or module definitions.

2. There is no delete option for modules under Module Definitions Edit.

3. I get the following errror when trying to Add New Portal: Either you are not currently logged in, or you do not have access to this content.

It seems to me that the superuser account is hosed (technical term).

Thanks anyways.

Ok, I found a fix for part of this on my portal.

I noticed when logged in and clicking on my username to get to the profile page it wasshowing nothingin the module to edit the profile. In the settings to that module the "Profile Template" was blank. I loaded the default template and suddenly I had a list of stuff there, and clicking on the "Register" link actually loaded the registration profile.

Other oddities with the missin Host pags are an issue that I am still working right now and may or may not be related to some of this.
