Ever since I upgraded our site to DotNetNuke site to 5.6.1, I have been receiving JavaScript errors that are preventing the Edit drop down menus from appearing. The error is the following:

Error: Sys.ArgumentException: Cannot deserialize empty string.
Parameter name: data
Source File: http://MYSITE/ScriptResource.axd?d=iy67066kCeGR71lRIfSFFCvzJUevQiIPWvGF3L-Fitjgc2ZpWIN9mq7ctsghSh6MH4aiKwm9ybJeRLVyD881lFdMp0FjHiZt49_ipYUeTy0E161PEUCF07E4M5aljUAIfUujiK__uIMd8H7Z5b4aymLzptk1&t=2610f696
Line: 5

Another thing I found is when I hover over any module container's title, another JS error is thrown. The error is:

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Index or size is negative or greater than the allowed amount"  code: "1" nsresult: "0x80530001 (NS_ERROR_DOM_INDEX_SIZE_ERR)"  location: "http://MYSITE/js/dnn.js Line: 176"]

If anyone has any insights on how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated!

These are all issues relating to changes in either the compression HttpModule or the compression filters made in DNN 5.6.1.

In Host-->Settings, Advanced Settings, Performance Settings find the drop-down list for Compression Setting and change it to "No Compression". Several issues relating to this have been logged in Gemini. Hopefully they will be addressed in the 5.6.2 release (mid-March ?) so that compression may be re-enabled following upgrade to 5.6.2.

I have a very similar issue, but the Compression Setting is already set to No Compression.

This only happens in Firefox, but when I'm logged into the site and mouse over either a module title or module content, I receive the following error and the inline editor (pencil icons) do not appear.

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Index or size is negative or greater than the allowed amount"  code: "1" nsresult: "0x80530001 (NS_ERROR_DOM_INDEX_SIZE_ERR)"  location: "http://DOMAIN-NAME-HERE/js/dnn.js Line: 176"]

Again, this works fine in Internet Explorer...

Any additional advice is much appreciated.

Yeah .. uh.. this is NOT a DotNetNuke issue.
Here is the clearest explanation of the issue:
