Hello,

I have several installations of DNN Community running at a hosting company.
I also have a local one for skin/module development.

On my local machine I had the SQL service turned off (don't ask!) and hit the DNN site and got an error about not being able to connect to the database. It was the installation wizard. It had the setting I should have changed in the web.config file to avoid the install screen, but I'm here because I didn't write it down! The choice was to hit "NEXT-->". I closed out the browser instead, turned on the SQL service and tried to hit the DNN site again. It said something like the server has redirected the request in a way it cannot be resolved".

One...
What is that setting in the web.config file that stops the installation wizard? If my hosting company does maintenance on the SQL servers, I don't want a website user to get that screen and ruin the install.

Two...( FYI - I reinstalled DNN from scratch after the errors)
If I do this again, how can the redirect thing be fixed?

Thanks for your time.
Dan

Thank you for the quick reply. Do you happen to know what changes are made in the web.config file if I close out the browser and don't hit NEXT as described above? Thanks. Dan

if you hit next, both connection strings and machine key may be altered an you need to restore file from a backup.
