Hi All

We have been using DNN since version 3 and is currently using the latest version on our intranet. No problems here!

I now need to get another working verion in place for another team. They want it as a standalone version and not a child portal.

I have set it up (a clean install), and configured AD Authentication which works fine except for the Display Name (displayed top right under the banner using the standard theme)

As I understand it, it works something like this:
User connects to site and is automatically registered and logged in (all against AD)

For some reason, the Display Name is blank. I had a look in the DB and found that there is no content for the DisplayName field in the Users table.
I have also noticed that the FirstName and LastName fields contain rather than the First Name and Surname of the visitor it contains the UserID and Domain retreived from AD.

I can remember back in the days when we implimented DNN V3 we had the same issue and it was resolved by simply changing a strored procedure but for the love of me I cannot remember which one and how.

If I can get it to correctly retrieve and populate the FirstName and LastName, then I can change the sproc (AddUser) to get the DisplayName from a combination of FirstNAme and LastName.

Could anyone please assist in this regard? Any ideas/pointers will be apprciated, thanks.

When you look at the user's properties in Active Directory Users and Computers is there anything filled in for their Display Name? Have you tried using impersonation in your web.config? It sounds as if the provider isn't able to pull enough information from the AD so is using what information it can to fill required properties.

Hi MIke

Thanks for your response.

I had a look and YES, there is info for the DisplayName within AD (See Image 1)
I also tried impersonation after reading your response, but no luck, still the same.

If you have a look at Image 2, you will see what is written to the Users table. Image 3 shows the settings for the AD module. Do you have any other suggestions/advice on how to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm everything looks okay. I'll try to crack open the code to double check exactly what it's pulling in for the display name. Did you pull that report (image 1) from the same server that DNN is running on?

Mike

No, the report was drawn from my local PC. I have just run the report on the same server where DNN is running on, and I get the same results.

Appreciate your willingness to try and assist me. Will whatch this forum for any feedback from you.

Cheers.
