Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has already deleted (tab) modules from DotNetNuke pages using only SQL.

I have a DotNetNuke 5.2.2 website in place (updated from 5.1 some time ago), and everything works fine. I'm using Links modules to display footer links and navigation links. These modules are displayed on all pages. I've created some templates based on existing pages to facilitate page creation and it worked just fine. However, I just realized that doing so creates many copies of the footer and navigation Links modules! Now, each time I create a page, there are 20+ links module created, in addition to the original ones. Hence my question: I thought it was simpler using SQL only, so I was wondering if someone has already encountered this issue? If so, how did you handle it?

Thanks in advance

Yes, I have done this in the past, many times.

You need to be very careful with it, but it is easily possible.

If you would like feel free to e-mail me directly at msellers@iowacomputergurus.com, given the risks associated i am not willing to post the script here.

Hi, Thank you very much for your answer, but I decided to go safe and create a module that will actually do the work for me, using the API. :-) And it actually works fine. However, I'm interested in your way: doing this the SQL way, what kind of risk are we talking about?

there is only the neglectable risk of trashing your whole DNN site, but no risk for the machine, it resides on, or the earth as a whole.
