I have DNN installed in the root directory of my provider.

I am hoping to create a webservice in it's own Application directory that uses the IWeb module.  I want this webservice to hit non-DNN (my own) SqlServer tables to supply information to clients.

#1 Is this possible?

There are lots of articles around on this topic, buuut I just read one that eluded to IWeb only being used for DNN useradmin ... that got me spooked.

#2 Does anyone have a C# example to work from. The examples are all in VB. My VB skills are painful.

Thanx

Randy

No edit post ... hmmm. I just wanted to clarify that the table I want to query will be in the same database as the DNN tables.

It is quite possible to create web services without the need for iWeb if you dont need to connect to the DNN context
 - what makes iWeb useful however is the fact that it works inside the DNN context and with DNN security context.

As such it gives you access to DNN elements inside your webservice.

If you dont need any of these elements and your dont want to use the dnn security context then you can create your
own webservices without it.

Note however, a couple of potential caveats - 5.6.1 has introduced some url mapping issues that have broken some
peoples web services - you need to be careful what folders your install them in - and also how they are accessed in
relationship to the dnn application space.

On the other hand - iWeb sorts most of this out for you - without the agro - oh and you can access any data or tables you desire inside the webservice - both dnn providers and your own tables etc
