I tried to change a username using the database, but then it seemed that the password broke.  Why is this?  Why cant I change the username?

Did you update the value in both tables? "Users" and "aspnet_Users?"

There is a userid field in aspnet_Users which is not the same as the DNN userid.

Be careful also to consider the LoweredUserName field in the aspnet_Users table.

umm. no i didnt. Thanks. PS Why cant this just be a changeable thing in someone's profile? Even better would be to just use the email address as the userid.

The dnn user profile is integrated with the standard asp.net 2.0 membership provider system. This system forces a set of rules for usage on the dnn system. Westa

Seems like we should still be able to use the ASP.NET membership system with some fancy validation to make usernames email addresses. Most users when they forget their username try to use their email address as their user name. Its only natural...
