We have switched our email server to Google Apps (free). While all the email has moved over fine, we are having a problem with forms information being sent from our FormMaster 1.6.5. (We are on DNN 05.06.01 (238))

I have pointed the portal's host settings to smtp.gmail.com:587 with SSL on, as Google requires. A test from the Host settings is sucessful and I receive the email. And I have triple checked to make sure that the username and password are correct. However, once a user goes to one of the forms on our site, they get this error:

"The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required. Learn more at "

I have tried it both with the email address listed in the host settings and having the form info sent to another. Both gave me this error.

I re-downloaded and re-installed the patch for FormMaster (since I found a post in 2008 about it fixing this), no luck.

If I set the SMTP settings back to our original host's IP, there is not a form error but the email is sent to the old host and not Google, and we need it working with Google Apps.

No, there is not. There are SMTP settings in the DNN Host settings, and an email address  in the FormMaster form's settings. But FormMaster is the one returning the required secure connection error when the form is submitted.
