Paging broken after 5.6.1 all core paging, profile, file manager, 3rd party modules, everything that requires ajax postbacks. Except all Core Telerik controls work fine as all mine are getting ajax and js from the telerik cdn.

In Host -->Host Settings, Advanced Settings, Performance Settings try setting the "Compression Setting" to "No Compression" if it is currently enabled. This is a know issue affecting client-side scripts including AJAX postbacks some 5.6.1 sites.

Thanks for the answer. But its my http headers are on max cache on all static files with deflate compression. And turning off the stupid widget framework that Joe Brinkman and Will Strohl are so fond of using causes all of Joes or Will's modules to not work, it is also the problem in DNN paging. This stupid CMS relies on how many widgets and js files ???????????? Keep it simple stupid. Its real hard to program around stupidity. And if someone did not have for sale Amazon S3 abilitiesin DNN then Brandon might add CDN style sheet spites with S3 capability to core functions. FOR SALE antiquated JUNK DNN MODULES. Go to Snowcovered its full of them, which keeps DNN in the Dark ages from you people selling Junk and keeping DNN working with junk. Keep it simple stupid and either you can be a part of the Future of wallow in the past. Alot of the old DNN Core should go away.
Never heard a answer from the DNN Team why DNN will not recognize login info like any other Web site. All of you answers through the years are vague and pointing to MSDN for answers. Microsoft did not build this you did. Wheres your answer DNN team to that stupidity = WE WILL NEVER GET ONE. Do not you get tired of entering username and password on your own sites? But I have noticed many of you do not use dnn for your personal sites or Blogs????????????????????????????????????????????? Got tired of adding a username and pass everytime?

Not exactly sure what your point is here - Will simply explained that there is a known bug related to compression and ajax.
It - I believe has been resolved in 5.6.2beta - or alternatively - turning of compression for the time being in 5.6.1 at the hosting level
also resolves the issue.

No one is holding a gun to your head - if you find a better solution to you needs - move to it.

Alternatively, if you have a better solution to aspects of DNN
 - get involved - join a core team or a module team - contribute your code and ideas
 - thats why the tools developed by Joe and Will and Brandon were originally there
 - they got involved and contributed.

If you WANT a different login process - CODE ONE - honestly it would take you less than a couple of hours if you have any programming skills.
Thats the whole point of dnn - its an open framework - it has authentication providers you could code against.   And if you believe so passionately about your new and improved login process - after you have completed it - offer it to the CORE.  Alternatively - if it is something that only requires a change in the core login module - submit the code changes as recommendations to gemini.  Mind though if it were to BREAK 500,000 dnn sites functionality then it may not be accepted through the validation process ... so you mileage may vary.

Same thing goes for Amazon S3 capabilities - you want them in the core - how about you look at getting involved and contributing instead of expecting others to do the heavy lifting. Those that have released commercial options have done so because they saw a need - if you are willing to give your time for free to see something contributed to the core - more power to you - but if not well . . .

Just my 2 cents.

Don - I love a good rant as much as the next internet poster, but I save this for sporting teams and politics.  Because those are two things I don't have much say in.  I get lots of say in how my DNN sites are run, however, because I can pick and choose which releases I use, and I can pick and choose which bits of the core I want to use and which bits I want to make myself.

The beauty of DNN is that if you don't like the DNN login or any other aspect of DNN you can make your own, or lean on someone to do it for you if you've got the contacts and cash or ability to get them to do stuff out of the goodness of their heart.

Ranting is fun, no doubt about that.  But contributing is even more fun because in the long run it wins you friends and allies and leads to future good things, be they projects, friendships, jobs or shared software.  Ranting is not as good in this respect.
