Hi,

I've initially installed DNN on godaddy successfully, then had to uninstall, then reinstall again, now the installation produce a runtime error.
Can some help please? When i go to the site, instead of a seeing the default skin, i see a default Godaddy page with a 404 page not found error - stating incorrect URL or I haven't upload content yet.

The below error message is:
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Can someone please help?
Thank you!

I had the same experience.  The thing that I discovered was that the uninstall routines used by GoDaddy did not completely remove the DNN application.  So, I had to remove the installation, then go back and make sure that all files and sub-directories were in fact deleted...particularly the web.config file.
After I made sure that all files and sub-directories were correctly deleted, I was able to re-install DNN correctly.

Hans

Please modify the below section of your site's web.config file to set the mode attribute to "Off":

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

This will allow you to see the detailed error that is causing the application error. You may then post the error in this thread. Caution: If the error message reveals any sensitive information such as database server, username or password, plese replace those value with xxxxxx when pasting the error to this forum.

One question for you - how did you uninstall the previously installed site? It is necessary to remove all files from the file system and delete the database and re-create a blank database before attempting an reinstall.

Thank you for those suggestions. I tried the "off" in the config file and that didn't work, so I uninstalled and deleted everything and reinstall it again.
Now i am trying to run the install wizard and  i got the following message :(

Unauthorized Access Error

Error Details

File D:\Hosting\7497622\html\dnn\Portals\_default\\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources
Error   Access to the path 'D:\Hosting\7497622\html\dnn\Portals\_default\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources' is denied. The Windows User Account listed below must have Read/Write Privileges to this path.

Can someone help?
Thanks

The error is an indication that the DotNetNuke install wizard is not able to connect to the database AND the ASP.Net worker process account does not have sufficient permissions (full permisions including write and modify) on the dnn folder. Since you are installing into a folder beneath the root folder I think that GoDaddy allows you in your hosting control panel's file manager to set permissions on this folder. It's been a while since I worked on a site on GoDaddy so I'm sorry I dont recall the exact steps.
