Hi everyone

I'm investigating the idea of building a custom login and registration solution. The problem is that we need to localise the entire site in 20+ languages. With the .resx files solution it is impossible and very slow to manage the translations. Therefore we are considering using the database for a custom resource provider instead. So I am starting with the login process and trying to create a custom version which I can localise eventually using the DB.

(Before anyone points out the Data Springs module(s) we have been using this and have decided to drop it - the reasons are too numerous to mention)

I have been looking at the core login which I have been able to replicate as a new module. However, due to the centralised core authentication system much of the labels and styling are buried in the default authentication provider. So, I experimented with creating my own authentication provider based on this post:

http://blog.theaccidentalgeek.com/post/2009/07/13/DotNetNuke-Tips-and-Tricks-12-Creating-your-own-Authentication-Provider.aspx

I have got this working fine but what I need to do is turn off the core authentication provider. I can't seem to do this. If I disable it in extension settings DNN appears to ignore this and default back to the DNN authentication instead of using my custom one which is enabled.

The only way I get to use my provider is when both it and the DNN provider are turned on. Then I get a panel with the two buttons asking me to chose
which provider I want.  But I don't want to offer the user a choice. I just want to show them my login and provider.

Am I doing something wrong?  Or is this default behaviour?  Should I be able to turn off the DNN authentication?

thanks for any help

Rachel
