I have upgraded a DNN 2.1 installation up to DNN 3.2.2.  Even logged in as an administrator, I can no longer edit modules on pages which were upgraded.  If I add a new module, or add a new page and add modules to that, I can edit them fine.

All the permissions look to be set correctly, so I do not understand what's going on.  Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

This kind of problem is really knocking my confidence in DNN as a long term solution.....

Hi Mike,

I have also had this problem. I have discovered that modules that do not show the title are uneditable once my DNN 1 installation is upgraded to 3. In my case these were all text/html modules, I dont know if this is the only module affected or if the issue is wider than this.

As I was doing this using a test environment, I just started again and ran some SQL to update the Modules table to set ShowTitle before re-running the upgrade. I have just had a quick look at the DB following the upgrade and I could not see where this is now set.

Cheers, John

Thanks John!!

I think you have hit the nail right on the head!  Looking back at a copy of the original DNN2 installation, I see that there is actually one module which did have 'Show Title' checked, and it is indeed editable in the upgraded version!  Like you, I can't yet see how that flag is translated in to DNN3.2.2 (there is 'DisplayTitle' in table TabModules but I'm not sure this is it - still trying to compare it to the results I am seeing).

Bottom line is that I could do what you have done - restore the DNN2 install, update that column on all modules then re-run the upgrade.  However, if anyone can pinpoint what needs to be updated in the 3.2.2 database to set ShowTitle to true, that would be fantastic.

John, thanks again - you have saved me from pulling all my hair out!

Michael

Well, things have moved on with this thread and now I really, really need to understand what happens to the ShowTitle column when a DNN2 database is upgraded to DNN3.  I need to fix my DNN3 site and I can no longer go back to v2 and re-run the upgrade (too much has been added in the mean time).

So, does anyone know the answer?  What is the equivalent column in DNN3 to the ShowTitle column in a DNN2 module table?
