Hi all,

I want to show a custom error page for any kind of error occured in my DNN website.

The error can be Runtime error, 404, 500 or anything.

I just want to show my website users a simple message of my choice rather than technical error details.

could anyone help?

Thanks & Regards

I don't think that this is a feature of dotnetnuke. You should be able to set your custom error pages in the properties of your site in IIS. The procedure might vary a bit depending on your IIS Version. So I would search on google for "custom error pages in IIS YourVersionGoesHere"...

As DNN is an ASP.NET applicaiton, you need to define error handling within the web.config 'customErrors' section.  The way you do this depends on which version of .net your site is running.

You can specify a different value for each error code (ie 404, 500 etc).

The problem you may have if you have a multiple portal site is that the errors are install specific rather than portal specific.  Thus you may not get an error customsied to a specific portal unless you write some script to check the domain name.

There are modules around which can implement 'proper' 404 handling for you, including the Url Master module I distribute.  This returns an actual 404 code back to the visitor or search engine instead of a 302 redirect to the specified page, which is what happens with the ASP.NET error handling in the custom Errors section.
