Hey There:

I don't really post a lot here, but I lurk all the time, this forum is great for information and most of you participants are way beyond my skills.

I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with a DotNetNuke consultant named M. Ali Nawaz Adil ?  His web site is located here: www.alinawaz.net

I used his service to convert my client's web site (a very simple bare-bones web site) from static HTML to DotNetNuke and for $150 he did a nice job, was responsive, made adjustments for us quickly and overall did a great job (that website is here for anyone who is interested in looking)

Since that project went so well, we decided to also use his services for Search Engine Optimization (something that's way over my head) and we paid him $450 in advance for something he referred to as a "Pre SEO Anaysis."  He said it would take him two weeks to complete that, and then we'd know what the cost would be to achieve better rankings (and thus more traffic) on certain keyword searches.

That was 6 weeks ago and now he's pretty much giving us the run-around.  Every time we email him he's got a new story about how his dog ate his homework or his email wasn't working right or something.,......you know how you can sort of tell when someone's giving you the brush-off?  Well, this feels very much like someone is giving us the brushoff, so I guess what I am wondering is, has anyone else had any dealings with this guy and if so, were your experiences similar to ours?

Also, can anyone recommend a REPUTABLE consultant who can help us with SEO?  Obviously, we're going to require references this time.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi

I hope you get this sorted out.

I would just say that anyone who is about to hire an SEO person really needs to be aware of the potential issues and factors.
Google has a useful article on this subject here.

SEO as it applies to DNN
Try here http://seablick.com/blog/66/dnn-seo-quickstart-guide.aspx and
http://www.mitchelsellers.com/blogs/articletype/articleview/articleid/255/dnn-seo-case-study-part-1.aspx

BTW: Most DNN sites can get good rankings simply by making sure all the basic criteria are met.
You may find you can get decent improvements  on your own.

SEO is a grey area. No SEO experts can guarantee a definite result because none of them own Google . For $450 sounds quite expensive for just analysis...

Thanks,
George

In the past I have used "search engine commando" to get ranking reports on all my key phrases on all the SE's I was interested in.
I would run the same reports on my main and other competitors sites and phrases too as a reference.
Repeat the reports weekly to see any movement good or bad.

Without some similar process it is very difficult to validate or measure any SEO efforts.
I am aware the this can be done inside Google analytics but that only tells you what happens at Google.

My current favourite "SEO tool" is the site map provider from Bruce Chapman for Ventrians news articles - this has delivered real improvements.

There are some useful SEO report browser plug-ins for Chrome and FF
 https://chrome.google.com/webstore/de...

 Re $450 seems expensive.
Maybe but many factors have to be looked into and, if reports similar to the ones I mentioned are also run then you are probably looking at 6 hours work.

 Last points
Treat statements from SEO people in the same way as you would those from bankers that is to say with great scepticism.
Beware of any "grey or black hat" techniques.
