Hello

I cannot get the search to work correctly in DNN 5.6.1  or 5.6.2

It is returning no results.

I have done the following:

- Under Host / Search Admin    I have re-indexed content

- Under Admin / Site Settings   I have set the Search Results Page (to Search Results)

-  created two sample page (one with lorem ipsum text, one with a copy of a news article about a car)

I have set up a new DNN Installation, with no other modules or code that could possibly conflict.

Symtoms:  When I do a search.  It returns nothing.  Not even "Your search returned 0 results"

When signed in as admin, I receive the message

This module is hidden to regular users if there is no Tag=xxx querystring parameter.

The url is  ~/SearchResults.aspx?Search=lorem

This is odd.  If I change the url to:~/SearchResults.aspx?tag=lorem, I at least get the "Sorry, no results were found for lorem" message.  Even though it should return a resut.

Is it using the wrong query string?

I have checked the database table, searchword.  The words from the target sample pages are there.  It's just not picking them up.

Have I missed something in the configuration and setup?

Apologies for the poor article spacing. I tried to re-edit it, but the spaces came back.

Resolved.

This looks like a configuration bug in the DNN installation for 5.6.1

After installation, the Search Results page contains the ContentList module, not the SearchResults module.

Fix: using Admin > Pages, navigate to the Search Results page
Remove the existing module
Add the Search Results module

Be sure to check the Admin > Settings, Advanced section to be sure the Search Results parameter is set, and re-index the content (via Host > Search Admin.

Search will now work. (At least it did for me).

DotNetNuke: I assume this is a problem with the Default Website.template file, but I have not been able to sufficiently reverse engineer the configuration. I am unsure if this is a known issue, or if it is necessary to raise one.

Thanks
Ian
