Hi,

I'm writing a module that will be added to the Profile Page. Within this module I need to figure out if the user is looking at their own profile or another user's profile. I figure I can use DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.UserProfileURL(Me.UserId) to get the Profile URL for the current user but I want to compare this to the URL for the current page to ensure that it is the user's own profile they're viewing. I could manipulate Request.RawURL or something similar but I'd like to know if there is a more elegant way to check this with DNN.

Thanks in advance,

Enda

Hi,

I just stumbled on your question. If your module for the Profile page inherits from ProfileModuleUserControlBase, then you can compare the ProfileUserId to the CurrentViewingUserID. This is described in the wiki entry for ProfileModuleUserControlBase.

Here's some sample code:

Partial Class View Profile
    Inherits DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ProfileModuleUserControlBase

Public Overrides ReadOnly Property DisplayModule() As Boolean
   Get
        Return (ProfileUserId = CurrentViewingUserID
   End Get
End Property
End Class
