Hi,

I have a site which has large amount of data (more then 3 GB). and all these files (pdf, docs, images etc) i want to store to some other location which will be centralised. Now i want if we give reference in modules or html modules to point to /portals/0/files/example.pdf, it should point actually to /files/example.pdf . This location will be outside of DNN environment. SO what my idea is to empty /portals/0/files folder and take all data to other location.

Any ideas if we can accomplish this?

This can help site to be light weighted and documents can be managed easily on other location.

Thanks,
varun

Centralized to what and why?  What management do the documents require? What method would you use to centralize - shared folders, FTP, Webdav, CVS or some cloud thingy?

Just moving the files from the portal folder to another location won't provide any advantage from the server's point of view so you must have another reason?
