Hi,

When I try to update the site settings in one of my portals I get the following error.

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.cmdUpdate_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I don't seem to get this for any of the other portals in the same installation. I have already put a few days work into this portal and don't want to re-create it. I have been developing it as host, but when I try to log in as an administrator I'm only given the permissions of a registered user. I think this is somehow related, but I find it hard to look for inconsistencies in the DB as the links between users and roles are all encrypted.

Does anyone know why this is happening? How to fix it? or how I can get more debug information? I tried looking at the log viewer but I got the following message: (this happens in all my portals)

Error: Log Viewer is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.ConsumeMetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.get_MetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.FinishExecuteReader(SqlDataReader ds, RunBehavior runBehavior, String resetOptionsString) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReaderTds(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method, DbAsyncResult result) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(SqlConnection connection, SqlTransaction transaction, CommandType commandType, String commandText, SqlParameter[] commandParameters, SqlConnectionOwnership connectionOwnership) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(String connectionString, CommandType commandType, String commandText, SqlParameter[] commandParameters) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(String connectionString, String spName, Object[] parameterValues) at DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.DBLoggingProvider.Data.SqlDataProvider.GetLog(Int32 PageSize, Int32 PageIndex) at DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.DBLoggingProvider.DBLoggingProvider.GetLog(Int32 PageSize, Int32 PageIndex, Int32& TotalRecords) at DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.LogController.GetLog(Int32 PageSize, Int32 PageIndex, Int32& TotalRecords) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Log.LogViewer.BindData() in C:\Websites\DotNetNuke\Admin\Logging\LogViewer.ascx.vb:line 128 at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Log.LogViewer.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\Websites\DotNetNuke\Admin\Logging\LogViewer.ascx.vb:line 397 --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Please help me, I already have 5 commercial portals on this install, I don't want to stuff it.

Did you find the cause of this problem?

Seems to me that this issue is cause by a change in database collation, which can have happened by a move of the datebase from one server to the other.
