I am trying to make an Amazon books list with reviews. I want to use the Amazon URL to the book cover image to provide the image. In the documentation (3.1.9) it says that you can do this:

9. Select what options you want to be available when a user uploads a file under Upload fields. If just Files is selected a user can only upload files, if just Images is selected then only images can be uploaded, if either Links (URLs) or Image Links (URLs) are selected a user can post a link to an external website when uploading files. (Default is both Files and Images are selected).

However, I cannot see anything about that in the Settings screen. I would like to set both Images and Files to be Links so the image comes from Amazon and the link to the item is the Amazon page about the book. It sounds like this is possible, but I just can't see where to do it. What am I missing? Thanks.

just paste the image URL into the image field. The Repository module will figure out that it's an external URL and will display the image

The URL field (in default skin) for both the 'File' and the 'Image' are both read-only. When I click the 'Browse' button it opens up a local folder. If I paste the URL into that, I end up with a C:\Users\xyz... path to some local temp directory for my browser. If I actually go ahead and try to use that URL, I get an error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I am wondering if I change the Template to use the core file upload, whether that would work.

Oops... you are correct, my bad.

In the form.html file, change the [IMAGE] token to [IMAGEURL].  That will allow you to paste a URL for the image

Sorry for the confusion.

and you can change [FILE] to [FILEURL] which will allow you to paste a URL for the file that will downloaded when the [DOWNLOAD] hyperlink is clicked.

Thanks, Steve.
The [IMAGEURL] worked fine, but the [FILEURL] did not. I tried [URLCONTROLFILE] instead and that seems to work.
