Here is an added note. I have multiple DNN installs, and I can confirm that at least 1 other install has the exact same issues (I have not tested the others). So is it possible that one of the components did not get upgraded correctly during the extract. Is there a list of files & versions that I can check?

I'm afraid that I'm out of ideas except for one - although I doubt that it is the cause. In DNN 5.6.1 and 5.6.2 enabling compression in Host Settings is known to cause a number of odd client-side script and postback issues including some problems with File Manager.

When logged in as host user, go to Host-->Host Settings and oper the Advanced Settings and Performance Settings section. In Performance Settings find the drop-down list for "Compression Setting" and if it is set to other than "No Compression" change it to "No Compression" then click Update.

Compress has been turned off to resolve an issue with the events module. So tha thas already been ruled out. I'm currently up a creek without a paddle. Thanks for your help.
