I'm supposed to take over a DNN site from a client to revamp it. I've installed DNN successfully but how do I download the client's files onto my computer?

You cannot just use a copy of dnn you have downloaded to work with an existing site.

You need to take a full copy of ALL the files on your clients existing server - and use that set of files on your Computer.
And you need to take a BACKUP of the MS SQL database associated with that site - and RESTORE that backup to you local MS SQL Server and associate that database with the local copy of the files.
