Hi,

I Install DotNetNuke 5.6.1 and when trying to log on as host or admin get the following error:

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object

The Error Logs are as follows according to the table EventLog:

I doubt if there was any change in the connection string format when you were trying to edit it ? may be an extra space or some string was removed ?

can you double check your web.config and also see that web.config is placed in the root .
