My idea for this is to use the module for some kind of online reports. Of course having the option to set top x is great but I would suggest putting it in the view control and not settings (with default set in settings?)
Another issue came up to me (I am developing now a module with hard coded reports :) ) and I saw that you put an sql query option. This is really great thing. Could you enhance and let the user (admin I guess) set parameters to pass to the query? Say, a string split with comma or alike. (parameterName1=xxx;parameterName2=yyy;parameterName3=zzz;)
