Hi all,

I have a Windows 2003 Server with IIS 6, ASP 2 etc.  I'm finding conflicting information on whether DNN 5 will work on this setup and as such I'd like to know does it work, what is required?

I have tried to install it using the Web Installer but the SQL Server 2008 install fails and as such the system does not work.  I'd be interested in moving my current site to DNN if it proves a good system, but at the moment I can't even get it installed and so would like to ask for a prod in the right direction?

Many thanks,

Karl

Hi Karl,

Check out this blog post and video. It should help you. DotNetNuke is a great system to manage a website.

Hope this Helps

Hi Rich,

I followed that video and it failed on SQL Server install again but it turned out I just had to add a dedicated user to the system (this is a combined server, hosting AD, so it is also a DC as well as a web server).

However I've noticed upon installation its installed IIS 7.5 Express whcih is conflicting with ports with IIS 6.

Is there a way I can integrate DNN into IIS 6?  Using an older version (4?)?

Thanks,

Karl

Hi Karl,

Sorry you are having trouble. According to the system requirements page, DNN will run on IIS6. I think your problem maybe your version of .NET as the system requirements state version 3.5 or 4.0

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/DownloadDotNetNuke/SystemRequirements/tabid/2119/Default.aspx

Try upgrading your .NET framework and see if you can get it to run. It's odd because I thought it would run on .NET 2.0

Here is a link to the install WIKI http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

If you get an error after upgrading .NET post it here.

Hi Rich,

I uninstalled the web matrix components and reverted the associated changes.  I then followed the install guide in the Wiki and it seems to have work fine!

Now I just need to get my head around how it works so I can actually get a site or two up and running...

Many thanks,

Karl :)
