Hi,

Can anyone recommend an inline PDF file viewer for DNN? I would like to enable members of my site to view PDF files inline within the browser or page they are viewing. Here's a great of example of the functionality that I need:

Thanks!

That's a really neat way of viewing and interacting with a PDF as part of a page's content. I've never seen it done that way before as most web designers simply open a PDF file or stream PDF content in the same or a new browser window making use of the Adobe Reader plug in which most web users have already installed.

From the page source I can see that it is using the free, open-source FlexPaper Viewer - visit http://flexpaper.devaldi.com/ and http://code.google.com/p/flexpaper/ for more information. I haven't looked through Snowcovered or the DNN Forge for a DotNetNuke module which renders the FlexPaper Viewer's Javascript block but it should be a simple one to create. If the PDF/SWF file referenced in the script does not need to be changed dynamically and if you need this capability on only a few spots in your site you should be able to inject the in-line script block using the HTML module. You will also need to load the flexpaper_flash.js and other associated script files on any page using this capability.

One downside that I see is all of your PDF files will first have to be converted to a Flash file (.swf) using a third-party utility mentioned on the FlexPaper website.

Bill,

Thanks for the sluething! Much appreciated!! I never got around to checking the source, since I was scouring Snowcovered for a similar solution. OnyakTech has a inline PDF viewer, but it's embedded in one of its modules. I'm recommending he strip it out or reuse the code and make it a standalone module with Amazon S/3 support. I'm hoping he can do it. I'll report back if he can.

Meanwhile I'll check out Flexpaper as you suggested.

Thanks,

Will

Will,
This is something I've been looking for as well. Have you found a solution? I'm surprised there's nothing in the store. I'd like something that would give thumbnail images of my pdfs and onclick open the inline viewer for print. I would appreciate any insight you've gained in your research!

Thanks,
Heather
