Can someone please tell me why am I getting this Error: User Registration is currently unavailable.



 

In Site Settings/Security Settings/User Registration I have used the Public and Verified options when registering new users, it returns the above Error message.  

Have no idea why it's returning error message, I previously installed a website, using vs 5.5.0 that version seemed to verify Users and send the verification code to the Users dedicated email address without a problem, I’m now using 5.6.2, Have no idea why the Verification part do not verify Users and send the verification code to their addresses.

I’ve previously posted a thread  Re: Email Verification Code for New Registered Users not send to email address, received the response promptly which I’ve tried without success.

Response was: Check that the SMTP Server settings (found in Host -->Host Settings) have been correctly set up. Most shared hosting providers require Basic Authentication and many will not permit email relay as will be the case if the designated portal administrator account’s email address is not in the same domain as that specified in SMTP Server settings.





Also, make sure that the email address of the designated portal administrator account has been entered correctly as this is the account from which the verification email will be sent.



 Finally, check the Admin --> Event Viewer to see if any more detailed error messages are logged which may give you a better idea why some or all verification emails are not being received.





I’ve tried all three options given; but am still unable to sort out the error. Any other advise please?

I have figured out what the error was to my own question, In the Host SMT Setting under Security, I typed in localhost instead of the Mail Server name you're using on the server. Once done that, the email will then be send to the designated emailbox at Registration.



anyone with the same issue, try typing in localhost, hope this works for you too.,
