Hi Ash,

Thank you for pointing out that file. I can see that on the days when there was an issue and the Under Construction Page displayed there are entries referencing LogTypeKey="APPLICATION_SHUTTING_DOWN" with a property value of "The AppDomain shut down because of a change to the application level configuration." I'm not really sure what changes. There are also a number of LogTypeKey entries for "Cache Removed", "Scheduler_Shutting_Down, "Scheduler_Stopped".  So I guess this confirms that the DB losses its connection.

Sometimes when this happens it affects several sites all at once and other sites on the same server do not have the issue. Other times it will affect one or two sites and then an hour or two later one or two others or sometimes the same ones again will be affected. I was thinking that maybe the sites that are affected are ones that are running at the time of whatever change is taking place.

Thank you

Richard

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the tips I really appreciate it. I did double check and the DB version is the same as the DLL. Also checked AutoUpgrade and it is set to true.

Rich

That was a typo.  AutoUpgrade is set to False

Richard: That's correct. This file is a fall back for logging when database is not otherwise available for logging. At least now you can confirm that the site did encounter database issues; the question is what's that caused it. Another place to get some clues is to look into Windows Event Logs (not DNN) around the same time when the problems occurred.

Ash,

I'm seeing a lot of general exceptions in my event viewer most seem to be caused by the User Defined table module which I am using heavily. Could these be the cause of the problems and the sluggish server?

Richard: Generally errors like these don't result in SQL connectivity issue. It won't hurt to resolve them and observe again.
