Help! I have a problem with redirect after login on a site of mine. Version 5.6.1.

Actually I have two issues: the initial problem is that when I try to set up the redirect via User Settings not all of the tabs that should be visible are showing. When it lists the tabs on the site there is a big gap about 80% of the way through where a group of top-level tabs are missing, then it resumes listing tabs as though they were sub-pages of the last top-level tab it showed. The tab I want to redirect to is, of course, one of the missing ones. When I view the tab list via the Admin / Pages page all the tabs are showing as would be expected, and they show on the menu OK , as appropriate. I ahve dumped out the Tabs table and can see nothing obviously wrong with it. If anyone has any insight as to why this is occuring I would be grateful for advice - I guess the User Settings uses a differnt method to access the Tabs table than the Pages control module - perhaps is someone can advise the difference it may give me a  clue?

But I thought I had a way round it anyway - I will set a different page via the User Settings and then jump into the DB tables and alter it to the TabID I really want. Accridng to this post from Sebastian the setting should be in either Portals (unlikely looking at the columns) or in the Module Settings table.

So I did this and neither of these tables changed in the slightest. I surmise that the post is out-of-date and DNN 5.6 stores this value elsewhere. I have searched everywhere that seems relevant and I can't  find it. Can anyone please advise where as a matter of urgency?

TIA
Graham

Ignore part 2 - I have found the setting which was of course in PortalSettings not Portals. Why it took me so long to realise that  I have no idea: I had pretty much gone through the entire DB before I looked there!

I am still interested in why I can't see the tabs via the GUI though - so if anyone has any insight???

Are those tabs marked as "hidden" ? I've noticed on occasion that hidden tabs can be left off from modules. Have not see this on User Setting before.

Some skins (maybe modules?) ignore pages (Tabs table in db) with page levels not in the range of 0, 1, 2, 3.  This table also controls visibility, parentage, order (odd numbers only??), etc.

A year ago I had issues and found negative numbers, 4-and 5-digit numbers, numbers larger than 3 and non-contiguous numbers throughout my Tabs table as levels.  With coaching I had to fix it manually and it has worked fine since.  Only a suspicion how it got hosed, but some skins didn't care...  :)

FWIW

@Steven: yes, that was it, the page I was targeting is a hidden page. As an experiment I un-hid it and it was visible to User Settings, reset as hidden and it vanished again.

Strikes me this is a bug in (at least) this version of DNN User Settings. Are any folks able to experiment and update this post so we can see how widespread it is and maybe track down when it occurred before I log it in Gemini?

@Bob: the site was pretty new so the Tabs table was reasonably clean. I had experienced oddities with it before so I been looking for such a corruption but none found. Thanks for the heads up.

Regards,
Graham
