Hi;
I recently discovered that the time stamps reported by DNN are those of the host server and are therefore potentially different from a member's location. By the same token, time stamps might change whenever a server changes location. Is there some way in which a user can be given a time stamp corresponding to his/her location or preference? If not, at least any reported time stamps shouild be accompanied by the time zone. This problem exists at least in all shared databases where the time zone is set to whereever the server seems to be.

Hans:

Currently there are few settings available to manage these settings:
Here is how to manage this setting for a User: Admin->User Accounts->Select User->Manage Profile->TimeZone
and here is how to manage this setting for the Portal: Admin->Site Settings->Advanced Settings-> Other Settings->Portal TimeZone

6.0 is going to have more functionality available to both module developers and site users to manage timezone. Have a look at this feature request in Gemini. There is a word document attached that outlines all the changes coming up. In fact there are new APIs to obtain one unified time from database, which is guaranteed to be consistent.

There is going to be blog posts to discuss them more in detail.
