Hey all. I am running a site where when you click the icon next to an instance of any module on the page (Edit Content, My Work, Export Content, Import Content, Help, Online Help, View Source, Settings, Delete, Refresh, Move) the icons animation kicks in (spinning circle) but does nothing. The page shows an error, see below. Any thoughts ????

i had the same experience. google pointed me to the blog from michael richardson who described exactly the same the behaviour. the solution is to turn off compression: hostsettings > performance settings > compression

i haven't traced this any deeper and I'm aware that this is not a real fix, but at least things will work again...

Eric,
I thought I would pass along a note, and thank you for the link by the way. Our propblem resolvled itself. The DNN install was on a clients server and I had requested they upgrade the SQL version due to some upgrading DNN issues I found. Anyway, they did the upgrade but never restarted the machine. It sat like this for a least a week and once the machine was restarted the problem went away. I am no way suggesting this was the actual resolution because their server acts wierd all the time but it might be something to look into.

We had the same problem. We turned on compression and then started receiving the message

Sys.ArgumentException: Cannot deserialize empty string. Parameter name: data

We turned off compression and everything worked again.

Please Fix ASAP
